About This Spot

Nestled just on the edge of Arbroath, The Meadowbank Inn offers a quietly welcoming retreat where everyday moments blend effortlessly with special occasions. From the moment you arrive, the pace slows to a gentle rhythm — easy and unhurried — making it the kind of spot where neighbors meet, events unfold, and memories settle into place.

Sunlight filters through generous windows, casting a warm glow over the spacious café area, where comfortable seating invites you to linger over a steaming cappuccino or rich hot chocolate. The friendly hum of conversation pairs perfectly with the comforting scents of freshly made breakfast and hearty lunches. It’s the kind of place that feels both familiar and thoughtfully cared for, whether you’re popping in for a quiet coffee break or gathering with friends around a table full of seasonal, satisfying dishes.

Beyond the café, the Inn quietly holds a place for community life — from craft fayres to celebrations — with function rooms that balance practicality and charm. The space reflects a respect for the moments that matter most: weddings, memorials, or simply a weekend gathering. Attentive and considerate staff help keep everything running smoothly, offering a discreet kindness that lets you feel looked after without ever feeling rushed.

Parking is generous and accessible, with a sense that this is a place designed to welcome everyone, though small details like easier access would make the experience even more inclusive. Still, it’s clear that the Meadowbank lives by thoughtful service and an embracing spirit.

Whether you’re arriving on a busy morning to savor a full English or later in the day craving a warming bowl of leek and potato soup, the menu feels like a kind companion — familiar, generous, and suited to the changing pace of your visit. There’s a pleasant variety that caters subtly to different tastes and needs, including dairy-free options that show a gentle attentiveness to guests’ preferences.

In all, The Meadowbank Inn holds the kind of grounded charm that makes it a quietly dependable spot — one that gives a sense of place and belonging amidst the gentle bustle of daily life just outside Arbroath’s center.

Attended a craft fayre, the venue was very good, car parking was great. A good size room that would be good for wedding events etc. Could do with a ramp to help disabled people to over come the 4 steps to enter the venue. Yet to try the cafe which looked clean with plenty of seating. Toilets were clean. Will visit again.

We were there for a funeral. It's unfair to truly comment on the atmosphere, as it was a sad occasion. The food, staff and service was all exceptional. The staff ensured that we didn't run out of food or tea/coffee, but preserved the dignity and respect of all of us by giving us space and time to bereave

Sat in for coffee and cake, then ordered a takeaway lunch. Loads of space and quick service - chuffed that they offered dairy free alternatives.

I had a beautiful Sweet Potato and Chilli Soup to start and a pretty good Mac and Cheese for the Main. Very friendly staff and quite reasonably priced. Great location just on the outskirts of Arbroath towards Montrose. Plenty of space to park the lorry too.

Not only did we attend the set up if a wedding here we also had dinner... The steak pie is to die for and their burgers... Amazing... Freda is one hell of a character and sure to give you a giggle..

Nice clean cafe, not a huge huge menu but plenty options and it's cooked well and tasty. Good table outlay, can feel quite warm when busy. Great parking! Friendly staff too.
